AKA why I won’t be online for a while.
Friday night: it was late, I was tired, I was heading for the stairs to go to bed. I was carrying my laptop, and thought I had a better hold on it than I apparently did. I stepped too hard on the second stair, laptop slipped. And crashed down the entire flight of stairs, hitting the steps three times before exploding on the cement at the bottom. I mean, the damn thing shattered. Everywhere.
Epic, epic FAIL.
Naturally, backing up everything on the laptop was on my list of things to do over the weekend. Now, my hard drive is damaged enough that no one could get anything off of it in-store, and it is being shipped out to be taken apart for more than what it would cost me to buy a new laptop. There is a 95% chance they will be able to get the data off of it, but I am sick to my stomach at the thought that it may fall into that 5% of unsalvageable drives.
Fail, fail, fail.
So, I did a bad, bad thing. And I won’t be around for a while, because I have no computer I will be kneeling by my bedside praying to all that is holy that the data on my hard drive may be salvaged and that common sense may be bestowed upon me in future encounters of the technological persuasion.
If you hear hysterical screaming from the south-eastern corner of the US, no worries – it will just be me grieving the loss of 10,000 photos and a 700+ page computer journal. Now, please excuse me while I go throw up, and resume my self-flagellation and prayful petitioning of the Powers that Be.

No joke! I still haven’t heard from the tech people whether or not they can salvage it. I’m trying not to think about it….la la la!
